The General Department for Industrial Metrology has 11 labs specialized in the fields of industrial metrology (mechanical, physical and electrical measurements) as follows:
-
Thermal dualities and platinum thermometers. |
-
Density and viscosity. |
-
Glass thermometers. |
-
Alternating current. |
-
Resistance. |
-
Direct current. |
-
Force, Torque and hardness. |
-
Lengths. |
-
Pressure. |
-
Volume and follow. |
-
Mass and weights. |
Also, these labs carry out the following:
Inspecting ,observing and calibrating measuring equipment received from different industrial institutes and issuing the relevant metrology certificate or the technical inspection report in case of the non validity of using the apparatus in industrial metrology. |
Calibrating measurement equipment available in various EOS testing labs. |
Studying the department's needs from instruments and the standards related to measurement and metrology methods to make them available so as to calibrate the new types of measuring tools. |
Providing technical assistance in establishing measurement and metrology labs and methods of their furnishing through their specialized and high efficient and experienced personnel. |
Qualifying metrology and testing labs applying for accreditation according to ISO/IEC17025. |
Raising awareness of factories and companies' staff on the importance of metrology through holding seminars as well as practical and theoretical training courses in the field of measurement and metrology. |
Studying the new Egyptian draft standards in the field of measurement and metrology. |
Participating in implementing the ministerial decree no.42/2003 for revising the quality and conformity system of products in industrial establishments. |
In addition, the department prepares a study about the equipment that has no specifications on verification or metrology methods so as to pay attention to the possibility for using the methods mentioned in the international, regional or reputable national standards or carry out calibration processes according to one of the methods stipulated in the different scientific brochures complying with the fixed scientific facts. |
