The European Union (EU) is in the process of taking the executive measures for accrediting the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS) as a CE Mark granting body as the consumer safety related products cannot access the European market without having it.
In this respect, Dr. Eng. Mahmoud Eisa, EOS President, has declared that 4 EU experts paid a visit to EOS premises last week so as to evaluate its certification systems and labs. He add that this license will not be granted to bodies out of EU until now, indicating that as soon as EOS qualification for granting this mark is finalized, Egypt will be the first country outside EU that grants this certificate. In addition, Dr. Eisa has confirmed that this represents a great support to the Egyptian exports, facilitates their access to the European markets and saves for the exporters the costs related to sending samples abroad for inspection along with length of time and difficulty of requirements.
