In the framework of supporting and promoting the Egyptian exports and in agreement with the international norms in the field of quality and safety certification for products and commodities through the national bodies concerned with standards and quality along with the authorized bodies on the international level as these certificates contribute to the achievement of international acceptance and recognition of the results of inspections and tests for products and commodities exported abroad that promotes global markets access for Egyptian exports, and

As EOS is the authorized national reference and official body in Egypt responsible for carrying out activities related to standards, quality, metrology, laboratory inspections and testing as well as licenses for granting quality mark and conformity certificates for industrial products in all fields and according to law items no. 2/1957 and Presidential decree no. 392/1979,

EOS has published in Al-Ahram newspaper on 23- 24/5/2006 its request for the participation of authorized international companies, licensed for granting international quality and safety marks for managing and operating its labs according to law items no. 89/1998 on tenders and biddings along with its executive bylaw. Consequently, SGS Egypt Company, one of global SGS series of companies, has been selected as its offer is the best according to EOS provisions.

This agreement with SGS provides EOS labs with the required, flexibility for issuing these certificates and enables these certificates issued by EOS to be approved internationally as SGS certificates are recognized internationally. In addition to this, its certification in Egypt saves the costs incurred by the exporters for testing their exports abroad which is the procedure followed up currently for European markets access, in particular, such as CE Mark for some engineering products and construction materials as well as ECOTEX and ECOLABELLING for chemical products, clothes and textiles.
