Under the auspices of H.E. Rachid M. Rachid, the Minister of Trade and Industry, the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS) hosted ARSO Expert Committee Meeting on the "Evolution of African Standards Harmonization Model" during the period from 22-25 May 2007, Cairo.

Several topics was discussed during the meeting including:

-  Development of Standardisation Model for Improvement of African Trade.
-  East African Community (EAC) Standards Harmonisation Model
-  Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) Standards Harmonisation Model
- Southern African Development Community (SADC) Standards Harmonisation Model
-  Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Standards Harmonisation Model.
-  West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) Standards Harmonisation Model.

About 20 participants representing some African countries and international and regional organizations will participate in the above mentioned meeting as follows:
Kenya –Ghana – Nigeria – Sudan – Tunisia – Malawi –     Congo DR – Zimbabwe – South Africa - SIDA- COMESA – ARSO –AUC - UEMOA.
