Egypt, represented by the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS), will host the Plenary Meetings of ISO/TC 207 "Environmental Management" during the period 21 – 27 June 2009, under auspices of H.E. Eng. Rachid M. Rachid, Minister of Trade and Industry, and with the presence of H.E. Eng. Maged George, Minister of State for Environmental Affairs.

It is noteworthy that this is the first time that such meetings are held in the Arab and Mediterranean Region, where approximately 250 experts from more than 70 countries and 40 Liaison Organizations will participate. In addition, the State's top officials in various fields i.e. industry, environment, energy, petroleum, communications, transportation and mass media will attend so as to exchange views and experiences as well as be acquainted with the latest developments with a view to study and discuss issuing international standards in this area.

Moreover, many topics related to greenhouse gases and climate change treatment methods and the resulting desertification and deterioration of environmental resources will be handled, besides many other issues copying with the State's current public policy that is concerned with the environmental system.
