the International Organization for Standardization(ISO ) specified the final regulations for participating in the first course of 2007 ISO Award for Higher Education in Standardization for choosing the best university all over the world in the field of preparing and implementing standards and quality courses or programmes with the purpose of highlighting the importance of standards especially the international ones in social, environmental and economic development or designing educational programmes tailored to graduate specialists in the fields of standards and quality to be reflected on the international trade and technology transfer and development.
In this respect, these educational programmes should have been implemented for two years at least and the beneficiaries of the programme must be registered students and the course must be completed by an examination with a recognized diploma certifying that students have gained adequate information on the role and use of standards and quality.
This is coping with ISO efforts to assure the wide application of standards and quality systems as Mr.Alan Bryden, ISO Secretary General, pays a special attention to increase quality activities all over the world to contain all fields including practical, scientific and training activities in all production, services and researches sites and bodies.
Dr. Mahmoud Eisa, EOS President and ISO Regional Liaison Officer for the Arab and Mediterranean Region, stated that ISO authorized (NSBs) to choose the best university in the country which complies with the award conditions. Moreover, this includes the 165 ISO member bodies where the selected universities will participate in the finals. In the light of this, Dr. Mahmoud Eisa confirmed that EOS started receiving the applications from different Egyptian universities and institutes till 10th of Feb., 2007 as ISO stated that 15th of Feb., is the deadline provided that the complete documents of the nominating body must be submitted before 1st of May, 2007.
