His Excellency, Eng. Rachid Mohamed Rachid, Minister of Industry
and Trade ensures the importance of Egypt's commitment to achieve environmental harmonization for the Egyptian industries as
well as considering the fair technology to make the Egyptian Industry gain a competitive benefit in the global markets, indicating that the Egyptian government is taking over a project to establish an
International network for the fair production centers along with
Providing an international fund for supporting the implementation
of environmental, regional and international projects.
This is elaborated in the Minister's speech, during the inauguration of
the ISO / TC 16th Plenary Meetings, given by Dr. Eng. Hany Barakat, Chairman of the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality, on behalf of his Excellency. About 250 experts has participated in this Plenary Meetings, organized by the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality in collaboration with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) representing 70 Arab and foreign countries.
His Excellency, noted that ISO's is selection for Egypt as the first Arab country hosting such meetings is considered an appreciation for
the role played by the Egyptian government in the field of harmonization of the industrial policies as well as industrial sustainable development strategies with the international, environmental policies and the fair technologies, ensuring the importance of the role played by ISO to achieve balance between security . industry, trade and environment to provide the possible ways of safety, quality and safety for consumers.
Also, his Excellency ensures that the ministry represented by the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality is engaged to give the priority achieve environmental management Systems, conformity assessment as well as issuing standards in collaboration with the concerned stakeholders in all sectors where EOS has issued about 250 standards in the field of environmental management, all of which is harmonized with the international standards. He also ensures that ISO
Has selected Egypt to assume the responsibility of an international committee to set an international standard for combating desertification where Egypt is in the process of issuing the first standard concerned with the environmental combating desertification systems on the international level.
However Mr. Rob Steele, ISO Secretary General has delivered a speech to the participating members through the video conference ensuring his thanks and appreciation to Egypt for hosting such a great international event, asking the participants to consider the importance of reaching effective mechanisms, to promote the environmental performance for the establishments and to adhere to the environmental harmonization as well as fair technology.
On his behalf side, his Excellency Eng. Magied George, Minister of State for Environmental Affairs, ensures in his speech given by Dr. Fatma Abo El-shok on his behalf that the ministry seeks to achieve the environmental commitment in the industrial establishments through adopting a project on controlling the industrial contamination in which the first stage has been implemented with a cost of 48 million dollar for 25 projects in the spinning and weaving, food industry fertilizes, chemicals, cement and pesticides sectors indicating that the 2nd phase of this project is being implemented with a cost of more than one million in collaboration with the World Bank and the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation, the European Investment Bank, and the France Agency for International Cooperation.
However, Mr. Adham Al. Nadim, Executive Manager of Industrial Modernization Center declares that center in exerting a great effort for obliging the benefiting factories from the center's provided services with the environmental requirements and with the international environmental management systems provided that the center has provided help for 170 companies to obtain certificates on ISO14001, Environmental Management Systems.
