Eng. Rachid M. Rachid issued a ministerial decree to oblige food & beverages industrial establishments to implement the best and newest food safety systems internationally known as (HACCP) with the purpose of elaborating the quality of Egyptian products along with providing hygienic and safe food for people as well as increasing competitiveness for food products and exports to different world markets.
Eng .Rachid confirmed that the ministry is paying its utmost attention to assure the validity of food products for human usage and their conformity to hygienic standards, he also stated that the ministry is taking all required procedures to keep the safety and health of Egyptian citizen regarding food & beverages commodities, on the other hand he added that this decree will make the international reference for quality or safety systems is the base in all matters related to products and commodities handled by consumers.
He also added that the health and safety of consumers are red line and the ministry is taking all legal actions and capabilities required to guarantee having hygienic and safe food for consumers, and that EOS has been assigned to provide technical advice for food producers and assigning IMC to provide financial support according to systems applied with quality and environmental management systems.
On the other side Dr. Mahmoud Eisa, EOS President stated that this decree comes after obliging all packed natural water companies to implement these systems in their establishments since 21/1/2008
