Dr. Ahmed Nazif, the Prime Minister, assured that Egyptian Industry and economy are growing rapidly; he also added that implementing the international standards and norms contributes in technology transfer as well as transforming the patent of inventions into reality. These declarations were mentioned in the speech of Dr. Nazif during the opening session of the 2nd International Conference "Quality and Excellence for Export" held in Cairo from 24-26 October, 2007 at Cairo International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The conference was organized by the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS) on the occasion of EOS celebration of its Jubilee along with the 50th year of its membership in ISO. The conference was attended by 40 representatives from many countries and regional and international organization concerned with standards and quality. Dr. Nazfi also inaugurated the Exhibition, established in conjunction with the conference, with the participation of 100 Egyptian companies obtaining national or international quality certificates.

Eng. Rachid, Minister of Trade and Industry, confirmed that finalizing EOS Project for harmonizing all the Egyptian standards issued during the last 50 years with international ones and making them available on the internet is considered a great push for Egyptian trade and industry.

The conference was also attended by a number of Egyptian ministers as well as about 400 of economy, industry and quality experts. During the conference Eng. Rachid indicated that all the efforts of the government are gathered with the efforts of the Ministry of Trade and Industry along with its affiliated organizations in achieving the constituents of industrial growth that reached 7.5 % in 2007, a rate that exceeds our expectations and plans.

Dr. Mahmoud Eisa, EOS President, confirmed that the support of H.E. the Prime Minister and H. E. the Minister of Trade and Industry had great impact in achieving EOS objectives for making balance between the criteria required for making the Egyptian products as international; products on one side and the conditions of Egyptian industry and consumer protection on the other side which was reached through giving priority to Egyptian consumer safety and health essential requirements when developing the Egyptian standards.
